Out of the Sunset.

It's been some time since I last posted a drawing. I lost my job, dealt with the holidays, and have also been dealing with family issues at good ol' Casa Mike. Bascially I've also been all sorts of lazy, but only about posting. I've been drawing the whole time, and thanks to a swift kick in the pants by my good friend and fellow artist Nate, I'm back and posting the good stuff.

So to start, I've decided to kick off a series of cowboy themed drawings. Over the past couple of months I've been working on stuff to try and score a job with a swanky video game studio. I'll be posting a few drawings every day in order of which they were done, ending with the most recent stuff. Enjoy.

Quick Sketchin'

I had some extra time at the end of my work day today, so I decided to do some quick sketches of gorillas. I should really try and get to my local zoo more often, but at 6:30pm on a tuesday night it's not gonna happpen. Maybe this weekend.

Amazonian's Delight

One artist who has always stood out for me is none other than the great Frank Frazetta. Not only were his paintings and sketches full of life, but they also told stories and set moods. In this Frazetta-inspired drawing I try to capture the beautiful Amazon. I like to think that she is on trek across the frozen mountains, and has run into some sort of danger. Maybe a snowbeast? Who knows? I left this one in it's rough stages as I plan to try and make a finished, color version, which of course is going to take me a little bit longer to do. Enjoy this until then.

I've got a headache intern big.

If incompetence running rampant wasn't enough of a burden, my good friend Nate's work space has now become a heavy traffic area due to the new intern and her boobies. Although I've never visited him at the 'Network, I hear about it all the time, and imagine that this is what it may look like. Poor guy gets a headache from all the flirting.

Sounds like someone needs to remind these people that they make cartoons during the day and strike out during the evenings.

Thanks for the inspirado my friend.

Wayne Newton Storyboard

This three-panel board is part of a much larger project that I was working on this past weekend with my good friend and business partner Nate. It was late, and we were amusing ourselves by trying to think up some of the wackiest, most off-the-wall ideas for boards we could. In one of the many scenes I had to power through, the script called for Wayne Newton to get mauled by a white tiger (or a wiger as we like to call it on the streets) while Sigfried and Roy looked on from behind a red curtain. Although at first we both thought this idea was a bit much since this animation is meant for younger audiences, it was apparent as the night wore on that we just didn't care anymore.

And here, in all it's rough glory, is the tri-panel story of Wayne Newton getting owned by a white tiger, who shows absolutely no mercy whatsoever. Donke Shoen Biatch!!

Hifalutin Office Hijinks

Most of my programs crash on me on a daily basis, so at any given point, THIS is how I'm feeling. I'm sure you all can relate. - Mike

House Fire

I like going home to my turntables. It makes the stress of the day melt away and also counteracts any extra gabbiness from the significant other. Unfortunately my arms don't spontaneously combust into flames when I'm mixing, which would be way cool. Oh well, two out of three isn't bad.
